Joe Barrera, Ph.D., has lived in Colorado Springs since 1968. Joe graduated from The Colorado College with a degree in English, earned the MA in English at Claremont Graduate School in California, and his Ph.D. in American Literature at the University of Texas at Austin. He taught at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, at Pikes Peak Community College, and The Colorado College. He was the founder of the Sister Cities Mural Art Project and coordinated mural art projects with artists from our sister cities in Mexico and Australia. Joe launched and published The Almagre Review/La Revista Almagre, a literary journal with contributors from all over the U.S. and from other countries.

George Autobee is co-founder of Pueblo Voter Registration Project Inc. and president/CEO of World Demographic Research LLC. He lives in Colorado City, CO.

Does it involve training, training and more training? Will the city pay for the additional and necessary training? Can’t hurt. Only help. Is the first step respecting the citizenry? Should police be reactive or proactive?

Will the commission have the best people? The question that needs and should be asked, “What do you hope to accomplish while you are on this commission? What do you think are your “Better Ways” to accomplish this task?”

How can a drive-thru Covid-19 test go from $175 to $2479? If you’re going to Texas, stay out their free standing Emergency Rooms that act like Covid-19 testing sights. You’ll really get your wallet lightened there and no dieting necessary. Earlier this year, Rep. Porter got the director of the CDC to make all Covid-19 tests free, it was in his power to do so.  So, why are we paying anything at all? Will QAnon candidates win in November and be elected to Congress? Only time will tell. Supreme Court comes through for the little guy. Lots of “tell all” books coming out.

Schools are opening and closing faster than a moving June Bug. I thought children couldn’t get the Coronavirus? Oops! Psst! What’s that? They can? Over 97,000 in the last two weeks of July, yikes! The Lie Count is heading to the stratosphere. Are there any regrets? Hmm!

Congress is on recess without passing a relief/stimulus package.  We did warn you this would happen.  30 Million unemployed.  40 million behind in rent.  How many will be homeless before they return?

The US Post Office is off the rails.  The new ‘rules’ put in by Trump crony DeJoy have had a negative effect on mail delivery.  People relying on mail for medications, paychecks, and small businesses are all in trouble now.

As of Monday, August 17, 2020, over 170K dead.  Infected nearing 5.5 Million.  Expectations are of 200,000 dead by Labor Day.

Hint: Not a 3 letter word) Colorado. Drug Compounders trying to weasel out of some FDA rules. This is the era of deregulation, the current Republican administration is putting everything behind profit. Generic drug manufacturers are still trying to screw the public.  Arizona hospitals are in dire straits. Learn how Germany saved their workforce. Ever hear of “Work Sharing?”
