Justice with Jax: Season 4 continues to chronicle the story of the American Civil Liberties Union of Colorado case, Armendariz & Chinook Center v. City of Colorado Springs, et al., 2023. The setting is the U.S. District 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, which issued an opinion in Jax’s favor on Feb. 24, 2026.
The case gains even more relevance today as fascist forces in the United States broadly use the false accusation of “leftist domestic terrorism” to suppress the free speech of Americans across the country, with the most extreme consequences being the extrajudicial executions of Americans such as Renée Nicole Macklin Good and Alex Pretti this year.
Your host Jacqueline Armendariz Unzueta, aka Jax, documents the voices of the Colorado Springs community discussing the case and local current events. Listen today because knowledge is power and cultura cura! This episode features Monserrat Macias, a Colorado Springs community leader who advocates for small businesses and multilingual resource access and has lived experience as a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipient.
The case representing Jax is also the first in U.S. history to provide undeniable evidence that federal and local law enforcement unconstitutionally spied on Black Lives Matter social justice protestors for their political speech & actions. ACLU CO is representing the case to protect our rights to free speech & privacy — especially in our digital age.
