Thank you Bob, for mentioning parks. It gives me no great pleasure to say this, but it’s too late. It was too late the day the PLDO reduction was passed by council. Connecting Jimmy Camp Creek and Corral Bluffs and opening them to the public would be an affront to the scientific potential of those areas. It’s arguable just how wide a circle should be cast around the original discovery site within Corral Bluffs, but I’ve not heard that discussion taking place with properly credentialed geologists, paleontologists and anthropologists. I’ve been told that the state organizations have declined to weigh in on local decisions with regard to usage of the area. That’s unfortunate, but in that case the discussion should move up to the national level before any action is taken. Much has been made of the 34 years that JCC has not been developed. Understand please that 34 years ago *we did not know* of the monumental archeological and paleontological significance of that area. The disservice to science and our understanding of human evolution rises even above my passion for public use of the land. It’s likely the only thing that could cause me to say that.
