What is a Podcast?
Podcasts are like radio shows, but much more convenient. You listen to only the shows you want to hear, and you listen them only when YOU want to. Most people download podcasts to their smartphone so they can listen while walking, gardening, working out, or commuting. There are a number of apps for finding and listening, including Spotify, Pandora, Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts. You can also listen to them via your web browser while on a desktop computer, or on your smart speaker at home.
Because you can listen while doing something else, podcasts don’t have to be ridiculously short. Podcasts easily hold audience attention for 20, 40, 60 minutes or even more. This gives them the ability to deliver in depth content that is thoughtful and meaningful. Podcasts are growing in popularity. Over 57 percent of the U.S. population has listened to a podcast (41% have listened in the last month).
