Gary and Dee discuss politics and current events. Lyn is off this week. We start by discussing a chart from the US Bureau of Labor and Statistics. It’s really no surprise that our biggest job gains were in low wage positions. The US is experiencing record low birth rates. This is a bad sign of things to come. What’s a solution, how about more immigration? Completely opposite of what the current Republican Administration is doing. We discuss the biased implementation of social safety net programs, including SNAP. Are we in the end times of this form of government in the US? Bribery and corruption are pretty rampant. Former Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, addressed the lack of integrity in his commencement speech at VMI recently. The EPA didn’t want a study to be published that listed the danger of fire fighting foam as being significantly more dangerous than was previously thought. This effects our local community and a local favorite Venetucci Farms. Seattle passed a reduced version of their employee tax on companies earning more than $20 Million. We cover a middle class wish list of policies to help protect and promote the middle class. Dee’s contention is that without Universal Health Care, there can be no protection for anyone.
